Freelancing

27/08/2013 14:49
Today, I signed up for two freelance writing sites - Skywords and Yahoo Voices - with a view to earning some money.   It was a bit of a faff filling in the profiles but they are detailed for reason - to help connect you with suitable jobs!   Yahoo Voices also has...

I am now available for writing, proofreading and editing jobs big and small.   Just drop me an email!

Eight months?!

07/08/2013 15:45
I knew it was a while since I last did anything on this site but I didn't think it had been this long.   Just shows how this year has gone...   OK, here's my August resolution - I will (probably) update this blog at least once a week! And today's update is just to say that I...

Lies, damned lies and statistics

23/12/2012 08:08
I've just discovered there's a stats thing here - three months in, it's probably about time! Apparently I'm getting quite a bit of traffic (mostly from the US but also from The Chezch Republic of all places).   Tuesdays are popular for some reason.   This is all very encouraging but...

How short is 'too short'?

18/12/2012 10:27
I'm in the midst of writing a story for submission to Shotgun Honey and one of the rules is that the story mustn't be longer than 700 words - so tight, it threatens to burst at the seams!   In the usual way, I've asked some reader(/writer) friends to beta it for me and one of the...

11/12/2012 13:42
Now and then a vague idea wanders through my head and says, "Hello".   Some of them hang around for a chat, most just wander off again.   Occasionally, something more definite appears, a fully-formed character or a plot that really pulls at me.   I rarely have to go...

It could be you

09/12/2012 14:29
Angela bought the scratchcard on a whim.   Having bought it, she shoved it into her handbag with her purse and instantly forgot about it.   It was only a couple of days later, as she was digging through her bag for her house keys, that she found it again.   She kept it in her hand...

Ideas...

09/12/2012 14:08
I've added a 'Story Ideas' section to the blog, mostly so that I have somewhere to capture the random ideas that sometimes occur to me.   I currently have a couple of ideas that might work but one of them feels like a potential novel and I really don't want to lose it!

November is over!

02/12/2012 22:21
I had fun in November playing with the short story format, trying out different genres and finding that it's possible to make time to write.   Now I just need to keep it up!

Not selling the short story short

02/12/2012 21:50
So, I managed 6 short stories in November.   Not prolific but I learned a few things. Short stories are not easier to write than long ones! I can write short stories as long as I remember point 1. I can write in different genres - including romance. Having a notebook for...
